Scanary (the "app") is operated by Doanything AI (ABN 15 938 400 909), a business based in Australia ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the app. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs") under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to the extent they apply to us.
Scanary does not require you to create an account. We have designed the app to collect as little information as possible while still providing food-label scanning guidance for pregnancy and young-child safety.
Most app data is stored locally on your device and is not available to us unless you choose to send it as part of a scan request. This includes:

We do not sell, rent or trade your information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
All API traffic is transmitted over HTTPS. Requests to our backend are signed with HMAC-SHA256 using an anonymous device identifier stored in the iOS Keychain. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we handle.
Scanary is intended for parents, carers and adults checking food labels. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Because Scanary does not require an account and generally does not hold information that directly identifies you, some access and correction requests may be difficult to fulfil. You can still:
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you can make a complaint in writing to the email address above. We will investigate your complaint and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
